We encourage all parents, teachers and community members to become involved in the Armstrong Middle School PTSA. The following is a list of the types of volunteer opportunities you can get involved in:

  • Food Drive
  • National PTA Reflections Program

Committees

Our PTSA has a number of committees to help us deliver our programs.  You will find some details about these committees below:

Green Team

This school year we have made some progress in refreshing the Armstrong garden and conducting some weekend clear-up days.  We would like to keep up the momentum and welcome keen gardeners or people happy to lend a hand, to help us transform this amazing space into an area teachers can teach and hold shows/recitals/training.

Birthday Grams

For $30 you can purchase a birthday message on the school electronic marquee board for your student's birthday! Kids love seeing their names up in lights! Please be sure to list your child's name in the notes at check out.

Fundraising

This team identify opportunities to operate FUNdraisers for Armstrong families to enjoy and for the whole school population to benefit from. From extravaganzas to restaurant nights...the opportunities are endless, but without volunteers to help run these events - they are non-existent!

Communications

We want you to be up to date with everything that is happening at Armstrong as soon as we know it! This team looks after our Membership Toolkit database, writes regular newsletters and email updates, manages our website interface, posts to our social media and ensures students are kept up-to-date via loud speaker announcements and posters around the campus. Make sure your Family Information is updated in the Directory so you don't miss out on important emails about upcoming events!

Hospitality

We like to offer refreshments at our in-person PTSA General Membership meetings and hold bake sales and other yummy offerings at our various fundraisers throughout the year. This team also makes sure our Armstrong Staff feel the love as we host Staff Appreciation brunches/lunches during the year. If you are a baker, or just love to play host... please get in touch!

Food Drive

At times there are local or national natural disasters that we face, and this team supports these efforts in addition to collecting food donations to make thanksgiving baskets for our Armstrong families in need.

Reflections

PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education and encourages students to pursue artistic expression through participation in its annual arts Reflections Program. The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in six areas:

  • dance choreography
  • film production
  • literature
  • musical composition
  • photography
  • visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage).

For nearly 40 years, the program has encouraged millions of students across the nation and in American schools overseas to create works of art. Students participate in the Reflections Program by submitting entries to their local PTSA.
